Same with my 10.0 64 bit install.

According to mplayer output it can not load the w32codec (the orig.
wmv/wma codecs) so it uses ffmpegs ffwmv3 video codec, and does not
find suitable audio codec. That explains why we do not have sound. On
32 bit system mplayer uses the codecs from wion32codec pack.
