1) My environment:
 a. Computer: x86
 b. System: openSUSE 10.3 + KDE
 c. Monitor: iiyama LS902UT, max. resolution 1600*1200

2) Problem: when I choose screen resolution: 1600*1200 the default font
size is very small, almost unreadable.
How can I change it ?
I tried: Control Center modules menu -> Appearance & Themes -> Fonts
I changed fonts there but it give no change to the fonts in such
applications like Skype where lists of contacts are displayed with the
same (very small) font.

I use 1600x1200 and Skype. In Skype beta the fonts were much worse, so make
sure you're using the correct release version for SUSE. Still, some Skype
fonts are too small, and the only thing that might help with those is
complaining in Skype's forum.

Skype uses QT. Do you have an appropriate font set in ~/.qt/qtrc? I do, but
have no recollection how it got there.

All that said, if your DPI is wrong, which in 10.3 is fairly likely, and may
be more than one number, then at least some fonts will be wrong too. What
size is your display? What does 'xdpyinfo | grep resolution' report? What DPI does KInfoCenter report for DPI? What does 'xrdb -query | grep dpi' report? What does Firefox report on http://mrmazda.no-ip.com/auth/dpi-screen-window
for DPI?
