26 megs! That's too large for a single email, thunderbird might be having
problems with it.
That shouldn't be a problem, I've got mails up to 100 mb in my account and
don't have any problem. Though in my case the mails the mails are not in
local folders, they're within Cyrus Imap.
And as I use Alpine, I guess i wouldn't have problems, too :-)
This looks more like a corrupt local caching index. Let Thunderbird rebuild
the index.
I forgot that. Yes, the OP could remove the *.msf files, but I think he
should then recreate them with zero bytes (with touch), or thunderbird
might not recognize the folder as a mail folder.
