I do not know, and most probably wouldn't be able to help you, but if you follow my advice, you will be more likely to be helped by someone else. Please, start firefox from a terminal window. Do the same with gimp. File a bug case with the output of both windows after the crash occurs. Also, provide which version of opensuse you use, and which architecture. Version of firefox. How you install it - yast or from mozilla.org.
