I've had the same problem in our Academy here in Spain, so we had to
re-compile the otc kernel for the purpose of your hardware or getting a
hardware compatible with the version of the otc compiled in appliance 1.0.
This is an investment I've made by myself, because otc guys don't answer so
much to the mailing list.
Re-compiling ubuntu's distros isn't so difficult, there is a lot of
information about that over the internet. I could give you some links to
that info.
The easiest solution is testing all your park with otc and see which
hardware is supported and which one no. if, for example, the 90% is
compatible and the rest no, just think about buying the resting 10%.
