I'm trying to update OpenVAS from source code since the Kali version is out
of date.

Starting with the Libraries, when I try to update the libraries needed I
get:

# apt-get install pkg-config libssh-dev libgnutls-dev libglib2.0-dev
libpcap-dev \ libgpgme11-dev uuid-dev bison libksba-dev libhiredis-dev
libsnmp-dev

Reading package lists... Done

Building dependency tree

Reading state information... Done

Package libgnutls-dev is not available, but is referred to by another
package.

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

is only available from another source

E: Package 'libgnutls-dev' has no installation candidate

E: Unable to locate package libgpgme11-dev

I've tried but not sure how to fix this. Any ideas?

Next the instructions want me to do a cmake, but there is no such command.
I see a file openvas_cmake_macros but can't figure out how to run this.
