Reflashing the TP-Link firmware would not rewrite the OTP, right ? This is
done only in silicon production, right ?
I don't think reflashing touches OTP. Nonetheless it's good that you can
reflash the original firmware.
Did you try to use firmware binaries found on the original TP-Link with
ath10k? Beats me what filenames they have. Maybe athwlan.bin and otp.bin.
For now I consider two options:
1. tp-link firmware is different and it reads/executes otp correctly (this
suggests perhaps a differently stored otp although this is highly
speculative as I have no expertise with this at all)
2. tp-link overrides interface mac address (ifconfig $iface hw ether $mac)
so it's visible with something else than 00:03:07:12:34:56
You (or at least another `anonymous`) mentioned 6mbps throughput with
older OpenWRT build (while ath10k booted the offending card) - how did you
measure it? Was it real throughput measured (e.g. with iperf) or was it
what you saw in output of `iw wlan0 station dump` on AP? If it's the
latter then it's fine, because firmware isn't capable of reporting tx rate
to ath10k so it always states 6mbps.
> I tried the firmware for station (999 version), and the AP firmware.
Both of these are available from the OpenWrt build.
Thanks for claryfing.
