found the offending commit. Thanks for the tip hnyman. it's 44346. tested
44345 and it works perfectly. 44346 doesn't work well and all the others I
have tried after that one, including a bunch of them with kernel 3.18 also
exibit the same problems.

juanriccio: all the tests I made where with latest feeds, so as to not
increase the number of variables.
