How long has odw been enable for? What type of report is this for? If odw has only been active for a few days and you run an ad-hoc report then there isnt enough data for the report to be generated - the weekyl reports tend to fail much 'cleaner' but the monthly ones do not. However, from your error and the 'Communications link failure' messages, this really implies that comms with the db was broken so I would be interested to know if your DB has had the minimum recommended settings put on it (http://docs.opsview.org/doku.php?id=opsview-community:mysql#mysql_tuning) and how much load is on the system at the time. How long from starting the report generation off to getting the report? It may also be the client connection is being closed due to no communication being sent through the link - this could be due to the db search for a particular piece of SQL taking longer than the default timeout period - have a look at setting 'wait_timeout' for mysqld in the my.cnf file if this is the case (I believe the default is around 15 seconds).
