I used to have a Vagabond 14. It was a fun little centerboard sloop that
I'd use to toodle around Mission Bay (San Diego, CA). Had a lot of fun,
and saw a lot of stupid people with boats, too. I think Hobie bought the
line and now they're called Holder 14's.

Ahh...to be young and single and have spending money again.

A good skipper/helm who knows his boat (and his crew) *and* can understand
the wind can do wonders. Looks like they had a 360 wind shift and that would
have resulted in some 'dead wind' at points of time. Frustrating to say the
least. In sailing, sometimes it is not the number of correct decisions which
count but the number of wrong ones and the wrong time.

Each of the 22 have an assigned position/responsibility and train hard and
long for it. When they are actually not doing anything, they help in
balancing the boat - especially on a broad reach (wind from the side) which
makes it look like it's going to keel over...

Fyi, Larry and his crew nearly lost their lives in a big race (near
Australia?) a few years ago. Larry would have learnt a lot of things from
that race.

Any other sailors on this list?
