at the very end of the command, add a space and a &  this will send the
nohup into the background and you won't die when you exit the session.

Now, when you exit the session, instead of immediately logging you off,
you will get a message "you have running jobs"... you can ignore that
and just type exit again.

The message is in case you really WANT to stop those jobs running in
the background. Since you don't, you're fine.

You can check the file nohup.out, which will be created in the
directory you were in when you issued the nohup command and you can see
the output that would have been displayed to the screen
