Peter - Do you have a particular objective in mind? For example, would you
like to eventually complete the OCP? The normal progression (using Oracle
Education classes as a basis) would be:
1. SQL & PL/SQL
2. DBA
3. Advanced topics (check education.oracle.com for descriptions of
the other 3 courses)
This will help lead to the OCP.
With your experience, you may feel that you can skip the SQL and DBA
classes. Or not, depending on whether you feel you would like a thorough
coverage to make sure you have no gaps.
There may be other areas that would be productive, depending on what future
projects you have going at work. If you will be moving to Oracle9i soon, you
might take a 9i New Features class. We are implementing RMAN, and I found
the Backup & Recovery class to be very helpful.

My manager has told me that he has budget to send me for
a training course of my choice, 4 to 5 days, preferably
in the local area (Long Island or NYC).
A bit of background on myself:
Current position: Oracle DBA, right now, mostly supporting
development, including data modeling.
20+ years total experience in software development, system
administration (mostly UNIX), Database Administration
(including about 8 years work with Oracle 7.0.x to 8.1.7).
My DBA work has included both development and production,
mostly on small to medium sized databases.
Programming languages: C, C++, Java
I have gained most of my knowledge of Oracle on the job,
from reading documentation and books like Rachel's _DBA 101_,
from attending user's group meetings, or from reading this list.
What course would you suggest?
