Edouard hello,

if the database is not heavy updateable, i.e., the switching of redo log is rare, and the database is not too large, you can try this scenario:
1. copy (operation system) all the datafiles, redo log, etc..
you need to copied the hall database without a redo log switch in the middle.
2. Act with those files as its a hot backup
3. Recover the database using a 'backup controlfile to trace'
4. It work to me

if you need more, email

Subject: Duplicate online Database

I need to duplicate online database Oracle 8.1.7.
It is not possible to shutdown the primary database.
Can I do online backup this primary database by RMAN,
and + using archivelogs create duplicate database?
Inconsistent backups of RMAN + archivelogs = duplicate database??

Thanks
