Thanks for your reply, Alex.  How long do these RFEs typically take, (Again,
I'm new to Orbeon.)?  I realize it must depend on level of
importance/interest, and that additional features must always come after
fixes.

I ask because I'm actually giving an XForms presentation in February to the
Northern Virginia Java Users Group (www.novajug.com), and I plan on using
Orbeon as the implementation.  I'd first thought of using XSmiles and doing
everything client side (to spec), but I'd rather show code that folks can
use today.

I love Orbeon's built-in support for hints, alerts, validation constraints,
etc; things we've all had to do with JavaScript in the past.  It would be
*huge* if I could show this as well.  

In addition, my current project requires nearly 100 "Other please specify"
fields, and having it available would be tremendous help!  ;-)

The selection="open" attribute on the <select1> control is not 
supported at this point. But you have a good point: that is certainly 
an interesting concept that we want to support in the future, and I 
added and RFE to that effect.
