Someone was as kind to forward Quido's offlist letter on his leaving the list....since he did not have the guts to call me out to my face in the forum of the whole list....( a fool I may be....but a polite fool) I find that just as a passing thought and I hope the last letter about this subject. I wish to make it clear that my decision to leave the OGD was not ad hoc. I thought about it for a long time, and I have been thinking about it since: as of yet, I have no reason to reconsider ... whether I will reconsider with time, is another issue ... however, I have decided that I will put this issue on ice for at least two months. There is a couple of things I want to clarify (unfortunately, I do not have the e-mail address of Colin Hamilton, otherwise I would have included him the list of recipients, maybe one of you can take care of that). If anyone feels that this message should be put on the list, please feel free to do so. 1) If you go back to the archives, you will see that from the first day of my return to the list, I have constantly been insulted and libeled: Arditti, Baruk, Kemp, Hamilton, and many others. I don't have to go through the list but to recall things to your memory here a few items: "not a scientist," "a thief", arrogant, bad mannered etc. etc. 2) I can remember many instanced at which I have been criticized for my reply ... I cannot remember many instances at which the libelers and insulters were called to order. 3) whether Carson Whitlow is correct about me being short fused or not in the case of criticism is another issue: however, being told that one is a thief is not criticism ... It is libel and a criminal offense. Having one's personal and professional authority questioned is not "criticism" ... its libel ... Someone who insinuates that I bought my Ph.D is not "criticizing" me. He is libeling me. etc .... etc. ... Do I need to go on?? 4) Colin Hamilton repeatedly accuses me of using "foul language". He never accused the criminals that cause me to use the "foul language". And Who is Colin Hamilton to claim that he has the moral authority to decide what is "foul language". I am fed up hearing from hypocrites and bigots what words and style I have to use in my language. Americans and Australians should start watching German Television, then they would know that Europa is not their colony. 5) The biggest fool on the list is Didier Maujean: insinuating that I have a psychological problem. Well, actually I do, my psychological problem consists of having to cope with the fact that I am not able to beet the shit out of the idiot. 6) It is not the way some of you suggest. Sitting still and not replying is not the answer ... because in that case, Baruk and the other criminals will say: "see, he does not even deny it". 7) The worst of course is being called a Nazi (by Baruk) and a "neo-fascist swine" by Stitzelweller. Beside the fact that I was born in Belgium from a purebred Flemish family that traces its roots back to 1302, beside the fact that my family has a record of being anti-Nazi and that my dad war captured and tortured by the Gestapo in Ghent, everyone who knows me knows that I have most certainly no anti-semitic feelings whatsoever. If there were need to confirm that, one might ask the Sandor family in Miami or Iris Cohen and her husband. To put it clearly: I might come back to the list .... however, as I said, I need some time, and before all I want a clear statement on the list condemning the insulting and libeling that is going on. I also want a clear statement that the list is International and that no-one, whatever nation they belong to has the right to moral (or more correct pseudo moral) criticism.
