As a musician who's been asked about rescheduling, it's a very reasonable
thing to do as long as you communicate well.

Agreed with Kimbi that you don't want to make the local band think you're
saying "we think they're better than you" -- the important thing is that
the local band is very likely to be able to make other dates work while the
visiting musicians would need the specific date.
