I will no apologize for my reply to overpriced diagram price tags.
Every single person on this planet has picked up a product on a
shelf, looked at the price tag, and wide eyed placed it right back
down exclaiming (whether out loud or in their silent dialogue) "that
price is crazy, i'm not buying that.". You can see me as rude for
saying it on this forum, but I see it as informative. Look at how all
people see your pricing not just your friends. They will mislead you
being ever supportive. I however don't know you and will react just
as any other consumer who does not know you. Your friends have an
opinion of your pricing and so do us consumers. I appreciate Jason Ku
for pointing out it is an early pricing point that the seller chooses
without trying to tell me my opinion is somehow invalid or rude.
James, the irony here is overwhelming. You are, of course, welcome to
your opinion. The problem here is with your delivery. Your original post
was filled with inflammatory words. "Are you out of your mind?" comes to
mind. It is not surprising that people have reacted negatively to your
post. People may not agree with you, as is their right. But if you wish
to carry on a civil dialogue about this matter, it is incumbent on you
to set the tone you wish to converse in. Just as you appreciated how
Jason Ku responded, the people you targeted would also appreciate you
showing the same level of respect that you yourself desire.
Just to contrast, here's the same message to you in a style more like
your own:
James, are you out of your mind? You can believe whatever you want, but
if you choose to piss people off, they're gonna be mad at you. Your
point of view is yours, but you don't get to tell others how to think.
If you want to talk about this nicely, then don't start off being a
jerk. You liked it when Jason Ku took you seriously. Well, then take
other people seriously, too.

Which one is easier to swallow? Which one will get you heard seriously?
We strive to maintain the O-list as a forum for civil interaction. Of
course, we don't always succeed. And I have been guilty of crossing the
line many times myself, so I understand the need to vent sometimes. But
I know it for what it is, and I apologize when I have to. Not because my
point of view has changed, but because I realize that my delivery was
offensive. I hope you can understand the difference.
