A friend of mine who is studying Industrial designing asked me : "can you
design/suggest an origami structure which can hold weight?" The rule is
that I can only use 1 sheet of A4 paper.
corrugations are quite strong, I have a small sample that is sandwiched between
two smooth pieces that will hold my weight. It has some glue as part of it and
is made from more than one piece. Not really origami, but don't forget making
a tube without kinking it and securing it with a piece of tape, it will
support several books. If the tape cannot be used, perhaps a seam could be
made, like a flat felled seam in sewing (that's the seam on the outer leg of
jeans) or a butcher lock with freezer paper - basically folded over on itself
