the rsync method is much more likely to work out of the box w/o any tuning.
i'd be surprised to see a majority of installations where the multicast
settings we have today works out of the box - it doesn't in my test network
here, for example.  getting to that point will take some iterating.

i always thought of oscar as trading off performance for ease of setup & use.
if that's the case, then i think rsync should remain the default for now.

Ah.. didn't realize the multicast was that much of a hit or miss situation right now. I'm still curious to see what devel testing would yield. In any case, we should be providing the option to TRY it with multicast w/o leaving the wizard.
Also- There's no reason OSCAR needs to be a trade-off in performance with regard to most components. I understand there are exceptions of course. But if anything, OSCAR typically provides an enhancement to performance, scalability, etc. "Best known practices" is the term advertised, and also employed whenever possible.


Anyway... I assume it's possible to provide a tool which toggles SIS between multicast and standard rsync? Given that, putting an option in the wizard will be trivial.
