Summary: ia64 clients crash on initial kernel boot when sis loading

Initial Comment:
On both an older Itanium-1 machine, and a new
Itanium-2 machine, and another vendor's Itanium-
2 machine, the initial loading of the compute node
clients fails. This happens when the initial kernel is
loaded over the network and tries to boot. The
kernel crashes with a message about "cramfs:
wrong magic" and another about "bogus logical
sector size". This is with oscar 2.2b5 running on a
fresh redhat 7.2 install.

This should be resolved with the current kernel.
Additionally, the next task for the SI team to tackle is the
"use any kernel" support.

As per today's (8/5/03) teleconf call ia64 support has been
delayed for now to get 2.3 out the door.

the ia64 issues have been moved to 2.3 so we can release 2.2.

i'm told that this means you are using our standard 3.0.0
flavor boot package (not the 2.4.20-standard). is this correct?
