i read the MAC's in from a file, and i can't remember now whether
i got those from listening to the network or looking on the
consoles. i tried running install_cluster again to check it out
but the script is suddenly hanging with:

--> Finding available packages
--> Found packages: apitest, base, c3, disable-services, ganglia, hdf5,
kernel_picker, lam, loghost, maui, mpich, mta-config, networking, ntpconfig,
oda, opium, perl-Qt, pfilter, pvm, sis, switcher, sync_files, torque
--> Running package setup scripts

and its not an X thing caus i can run other X apps? (it worked
last week)

anyway right at the beginning at the network boot they print their
MAC's on the console, and receive an ip (the correct one)
