i read the MAC's in from a file, and i can't remember now whether i got those from listening to the network or looking on the consoles. i tried running install_cluster again to check it out but the script is suddenly hanging with: --> Finding available packages --> Found packages: apitest, base, c3, disable-services, ganglia, hdf5, kernel_picker, lam, loghost, maui, mpich, mta-config, networking, ntpconfig, oda, opium, perl-Qt, pfilter, pvm, sis, switcher, sync_files, torque --> Running package setup scripts and its not an X thing caus i can run other X apps? (it worked last week) anyway right at the beginning at the network boot they print their MAC's on the console, and receive an ip (the correct one) > On 10/13/05, gareth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > hey guys, my nodes have Intel PRO/1000 MT adapters which work > > fine, but 2 of them have (Intel PRO/1000) GT adapters (but the > > nodes are otherwise identical). these 2 nodes however don't > > network boot. there is an initial startup of fetching an ip > > etc so some communication happens but they die very quickly > > with: > > > > read_local_cfg > > Checking for floppy diskette > > end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy), sector 0 > > end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy), sector 0 > > end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy), sector 0 > > cramfs: wrong magic > > end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy), sector 0 > > end_request: I/O error, dev 02:00 (floppy), sector 0 > > > > FAT: unable to read boot sector > > No floppy diskette in drive > > > > ... > > > > IP address not set with preboot settings > > > > ... > > > > DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 7 > > DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval .. > > DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval .. > > DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval .. > > DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval .. > > DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval .. > > > > no DHCPOFFERS received > > No working leases in persistent databases - sleeping > > > > I couldn't configure the network interface using DHCP > > > > killing off running processes > > > > > > > > (this would've been much easier if i'd brought my camera in) > > > > any ideas? this's fedora core 3 and oscar 4.1 > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > > This SF.Net email is sponsored by: > > Power Architecture Resource Center: Free content, downloads, discussions, > > and more. http://solutions.newsforge.com/ibmarch.tmpl > > _______________________________________________ > > Oscar-devel mailing list > > [email protected] > > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/oscar-devel > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by: > Power Architecture Resource Center: Free content, downloads, discussions, > and more. http://solutions.newsforge.com/ibmarch.tmpl > _______________________________________________ > Oscar-devel mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/oscar-devel ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: Power Architecture Resource Center: Free content, downloads, discussions, and more. http://solutions.newsforge.com/ibmarch.tmpl _______________________________________________ Oscar-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/oscar-devel
