Thank you Bernard. I have been away from the Linux world for the past 5 years, so I am not sure how much the kernel has changed. In 2000 there was an effort to port DIPC to 2.4 but it didn't seem to happen. I was wondering if anybody would volunteer to do this on this site. If not, I may give it a go. So anybody in the OSCAR team who knows the new IPC code in the kernel?

About the needed resources, I am not what is required from OSCAR's side to a package to be included. As to my side, I intend to install Virtual PC on my PC and then install Linux on top of it. Hopefully that will allow me to try to make a new patch for a 2.6 kernel. As of right now I am not sure how I can test it in a network environment (too little memory on my machine for two Linux VMs).

As to a webpage, one place you can find some quick info on DIPC is the article that appeared in Linux Journal, at http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/2417. Please let me know if you need any more info about DIPC. The package itself is available from http://www.cs.uwindsor.ca/~kamran

I am looking forward to working with you and other OSCAR people!

-Kamran

Hi Kamran:

This sounds like a great candidate for a third-party OSCAR package - do
you think you have the resources to create one?

Is there a particular website I can visit to find out more information
about DIPC?

Thanks!

Bernard
