Hi Bernard,

well, I really wasn't sure about the installation of the core packages before
Step 3 but it was always a question mark for me (an I would say I'm somewhat
famialiarized with the installation process), so I would support the idea of
changing the name of this Step...

Yes, perl-XML-Simple is installed and so is all the prereq packages - but
definitely, the core packages are not beeing installed correctly. I will check
this out tomorrow.

Thanks,
Fernando

This is the same issue that DongInn is having - are you sure that all the RPMs
in share/prereq are properly installed?

Is perl-XML-Simple installed?

BTW, OSCAR core packages have _always_ been installed prior to the Wizard coming up, that's why I
proposed that we change the step name "Install OSCAR Server Packages" to "Install
OSCAR Server non-core Packages".

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-devel] Mandriva 2006 and trunk --> systemimager issue (?)

Hello,

I'm in the process of rebuilding packages for Mandriva 2006 and creating distro subdirectories to support this version. It's the first time I run the system after the changes made by Erich and either its really faster than before or my installation is skipping lots of steps :-)

My installation is braking before I get the Wizard up with the following declaration (complet oscarinstall log file attached):
------------------------------------
--> Identified core packages: oda sis yume perl-Qt c3 switcher base sync_files apitest
--> Installing server core packages
present md5sum: 664936f3fafa0aaa374441cea4f42da4
loaded md5sum: 664936f3fafa0aaa374441cea4f42da4
present md5sum: 9c1cc457607438e2f5cf42ef532aac9d
loaded md5sum: 9c1cc457607438e2f5cf42ef532aac9d
--> Successfully installed server core RPMs
Updating the status of core packages from installable to installed
--> Done marking installed bits in ODA
--> Running post_server_install scripts for server core packages
Couldn't restart systemimager-server-rsyncd at /opt/oscar/packages/sis/scripts/post_server_install line 30
Failed running post_server_install for sis at ./wizard_prep line 348
Oscar Wizard preparation script failed to complete at ./install_cluster line 225.
------------------------------------

What I'm not understanding is: do the server core packages (and systemimager, for instance) are now being installed before Wizard's Step 3? The system is complaining that it gets an error while trying to execute sis post_server_install script but should it really trying to execute this script at this time of the installation?

If I force it to skip this step I got other errors just before to get the Wizard, they all complainning about dependences that will only be provide by systemimager & CIA.

I would appreciate if you could send me any suggestion for this. I will start to commit the packages I rebuild later today.
Thanks,
