please try 
export OSCAR_WIZARD_VERBOSE=y
for more debugging output.

Also: please try the command
/etc/init.d/systemimager-server-rsyncd restart
manually. Does it work? If not, are the systemimager packages installed? If
yes, you'll need to debug why systemimager-server-rsyncd doesn't start up.

By the way: I did not see any checkins from you with adapting to the "mdv"
name! You remember mandriva now requires to have package directories called
distro/mdv2006-i386 !
Also the config files: wherever you have filters for "mdk" in the config.xml
files, you need to add "mdv" (or adapt, as you need). Especially in the base
package.

This could be the reason why things go so quickly for you, mdv selects only
very few packages if the config.xml files are missing it, or the
distro/mdv2006-i386 files are missing.
