Hi Erich,
I have tried to build nightly tarballs via the new build system that you
checked in today (5/23).
It seems to work fine but I realized that the new build system requires
root privilege since it creates several directories and then generates
some files in them.
It is not a problem for me to run the nightly tarball script because I
can run the script with "sudo" and then scp the tarballs to the oscar
web site.
But is it possible for a normal user to build tarballs?
BTW, I found that we don't have a tarball ready for all the distros that
we support any more.
Is that right?
I will try this on my FC3-X86 next morning.

Hi Erich:
If you want to test and develop directly on the OSCAR SVN do
(inside the trunk
checkout):
make test
This will set up the needed repositories, build the perl-Qt
related files in
src but _not_ insert the copyright mesages and not build the
docs. After this
you will be able to do:
./install_cluster eth0
from inside the trunk checkout.
If I remember correctly, if I run install_cluster on the checkout,
lib/OCA/OS_Detect/OSX.pm causes a warning during image creation. OSX.pm
is normally not copied to /opt/oscar if you do a 'make install' - does
your system take care of this?
Having said that, I don't think we need OSX.pm any more - since we have
pretty good ideas about how to write a OS_Detect component, so perhaps
we should just delete it?
Well, OSX.pm never made any sense. So either rename it such that OS_Detect
doesn't grab it or delete it.
Another question is - do we still support 'make install'? It would be
handy to be able to just copy the files to /opt/oscar for instance since
my checkout is on a NFS share and I need to umount it when I test...
The dist/newmake.sh script is prepared for such a thing. I can implement it.
Regards,
Erich
