Hi All,
I tried this on one node:
Head Node Oscar 5.1 Crispy Quad Core Intel Q6600 6 gig RAM FC8 x86_64
250 GB SATA drive
Compute nodes 5 Intel Q6600 Quad core!
I tried the following on node a4(say!) with 8gigbytes ddr 2 800mhz ram
In the head node used UYOK and all nodes have support to boot from USB
drves in bios!
Replaced a4's drive with a bios bootable cheep $15 CDN 4GB USB flash
drive and reimaged OSCAR! Did it in 12 minutes.
df showed sda6 to be 34% of 4GB which means about 66% of 4GB is free!
It rebooted and works totally on USB flash!
It's a bit slower than a hard drive but portable!
Using several USB hubs built into the mobo you can software raid 2-4 USB
flash drives using striping to get faster write times read times and
more space!
Any body knows how to raid usb flash drives (for striping) using linux?
Right now i am compiling a kernel.org linux kernel 2.6.25-rc9 on the
flash drive. I am timing it to see how longg it takes!
Cheers to Portable Oscar!
OSCAR ON!

Looking at your log, it appears that most of the OSCAR provide
packages (like ganglia, pvm, c3) were not installed in your image.
getstat shows only the head node. gmond is installed only on the head node
at /usr/sbin and not on the client nodes.
I have diable selinux and other firewalls from the head and client nodes.
Any help would be appreciated! Maybe i could install ganglia manually for
now on the client nodes? gmond that is?
You can install it manually on the nodes, but then you would also need
to manually configure it. Although you could just copy
/etc/gmond.conf from the headnode to the compute nodes.
Cheers,
Bernard
