Just for the sake of amusement, I did a start_over, scrubbed OSCAR off the box,
and, well, started over. Fresh OSCAR install (from same tarballs), walked
through the steps exactly the same as yesterday, but this time, it worked. No
idea where the MPICH cruft from yesterday came from, as it didn't get
installed, but oh well.

Anyway, thanks for the help. When I get a couple test clients installed and
tested, I'll confirm that 5.1b2 works with CentOS 5.1 x86_64, though I think we
already knew that from others' experiences.

Once testing is done, I am going to be setting up a minorly complicated system,
with OFED and a few other things (tentatively including Lustre at this point),
so I'll take some good notes and hopefully be able to share how to set
something akin to my system when I'm done.

Thanks,
--Joe

I did a vanilla CentOS installation on the box, and immediately installed
OSCAR, deselecting MPICH from the packages list in the early steps. There was
never any time that MPICH was installed on the system, so there should be no
reason for /opt/mpich-* to exist. In /opt, there are no mpich directories,
either.

THanks,

Hi all,

The MPICH configuration script is looking for the file
/opt/mpich-ch_p4-gcc-1.2.7/share/machines.LINUX, which, i guess, is created
when installing the RPM. By any chance, do you know if that file has been
deleted at some point? or maybe the file is for some reason read only or
something like that?

My 2 cents,

Hi Joe,

What distro/version are you using to install OSCAR?

I assume that you are installing oscar5.1b2. Is it right?
