Hey Dave:
So is the 'Gold' release supported or do we currently only
support 'Update 2' and 'Update 3'?
Thanks,
Bernard
This is not what
“Update 3” means. Red Hat has released an original version of “Red Hat
Enterprise Linux release 3” and several updates.
Look at
/etc/redhat-release. On my Update 3 system, it reads
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3 (Taroon Update 3)
Note the “Update 3”
part. On the version you reported below you have
Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 3 (Taroon)
This is the “Gold” or
first release.
There are two
issues:
1) “AS” v.
“WS”
2) “Gold” v. “Update
3”
The first issue
affects which RPMs are included, e.g., various “server” RPMs are not included.
Apparently you can rebuild the RPMs from SRPMs and get the missing
RPMs.
The second issue
affects versions of RPMs and sometimes which RPMs are included. This is
the part where you need to get the right update of RHEL3, either “Update 2” or
“Update 3”, both of which are supported. Can you get one of these
updates?

After I installed RHEL WS
version3, I did not update anything at all. So, I assume this is Update 2.
I tried both rpmlist files
(redhat-3as, redhat-3asU2). It was not working.

Which update
version of RHEL3 are you using? We currently only support Update
3. You need to choose the correct rpmlist for the corresponding Update
version you are using (i.e. if you are using Update 2, choose redhat-3asU2,
otherwise, choose redhat-3as, for Update 3).
Cheers,
Bernard

I re-installed RHEL3 WS, and
copied all rpm files.
Now, I can see the OSCAR
Wizard GUI.
I passed step 3 and couldn't
build OSCAR client image.
I selected
'redhat-3asU2-i386.rpmlist' for Package File, and I selected
'sample.disk.ide' for Disk Partition File.
Errors showed up "FATAL: Can't
remove
/var/lib/systemimager/scripts/oscarimgae.master!"
What did I miss it? Any
ideas?

Hi
YoungJun:
I am not sure
for RHEL3, but for RHEL4, the dhcp RPM is on the last disc (disc 4) so
if it is not in /tftpboot/rpm, can you please copy the RPM (from
whichever CD it is on, on RHEL3) to /tftpboot/rpm?

Yes, I copied all rpm
files from 4 CDs. Also I got dhpc*.src.rpm file.
However, I still got the
same error.
The master node I have
here has only one ethernet card. Is it matter?

Hi
YoungJun:
How many
CDs do you have for RHEL3WS? There should be 4 CDs I believe,
so you need to copy all RPMs from all *4* CDs.
Anyways, if
you still can't find it, you can d/l the SRPM from here and rebuild
it yourself and copy it to /tftpboot/rpm:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/3/en/os/i386/SRPMS/dhcp-3.0pl2-6.14.src.rpm
Cheers,
Bernard

The version I have is
"Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 3 (Taroon)" which I got from
typing 'cat /etc/redhat-release'.
I typed 'uname -r'
then got "2.4.21-4.ELsmp".
I copied all rpm files
to /tftpboot/rpm directory from the CDs. Do I need to
copy src.rpm files, too?

Hi
YoungJun:
Which
version of RHEL are you trying to install (can you provide
version number and update number?)
Also,
did you copy all the RPMs from *all* the distribution CDs?
I believe it came with at least 4 CDs.
Thanks,
Bernard

Installing OSCAR on redhat Enterprise WS

I sent e-mails a
month ago and I still could not figure it
out.
I am trying to
install OSCAR on redhat Enterprise WS version.
I guess I am
missing RPM files related to dhcp. Where can I download this
file for redhat Enterprise WS version?
