I am installing Oscar on a cluster made up of older machines (with 100Mbit ethernet cards) and then some newer machines with Supermicro X5DPA-GG motherboards, which have dual intel82541 gigabit ethernet cards.
The installation runs OK on the newer machines, but when it comes to testing, I get the error that the network is unreachable. Also if I physically log on to the nodes, I cannot ssh back to the host or to other nodes. I understand that this is probably just a problem starting the network cards and I need to alias the ethernet controllers in the /etc/modules.conf as alias eth0 e1000 alias eth1 e1000 for these nodes only. What is the best way to do this? Do I need to do two installs, one for the older nodes, then one for the newer ones?
