Hi Chris,

OSCAR detects automatically the current version so you need to have a 6.0 block
in the supported_distros.txt file otherwise it won't work. But if you use the
"unstable" repo, the one i am using to prepare OSCAR-6.0.1, the blocks are
different and actually you do not need to download the file (see the "Testing
the development version" section of the
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/repoTesting wiki page).

I actually encourage you to use the "unstable" repository since it is currently
use only to include bug fixes, i do not include any new features. We are really
in the stabilization phase in order to release oscar-6.0.1 and it actually
fixes many issues (thanks to all the good bug reports i received, thanks
everyone).

But please, do not do any manual modifications if you want to use the unstable
repo, just follow the instructions i pointed to you.

Thanks for your help and let me know if you have any questions or remarks.

PS: the steps you need to follow are:

Testing the development version
On RPM Based Systems (CentOS-5.x only)

   1. As root, add the following file into your /etc/yum.conf.d directory:
          * On x86_64 systems: CentOS-i386-OSCAR-unstable.repo
          * On x86 systems: CentOS-x86_64-OSCAR-unstable.repo
   2. Make sure you do not have a CentOS-i386-OSCAR.repo or
CentOS-x86_64-OSCAR.repo in the /etc/yum.conf.d directory
   3. Make sure to delete the files /tftpboot/distro/centos-5-<arch>.url and
/tftpboot/oscar/rhel-5-i386
   4. Make sure that your system is up-to-date, executing as root yum update
   5. Execute as root yum install oscar
   6. Check the content of the /etc/oscar/oscar.conf file; make sure it matches
your configuration (for instance check the OSCAR interface, i.e., the network
interface used to manage your cluster, is correctly set).
   7. Execute as root oscar-config --setup-distro <distro>-<version>-<arch>
(for instance oscar-config --setup-distro centos-5-x86_64)
   8. Execute as root oscar-config --bootstrap
   9. Execute as root system-sanity and make sure you address all the reported
issues
  10. Execute as root oscar-wizard install

Hi Geoffroy/Henrique,

Checking the list, and getting back to my attempts with OSCAR-6.0. I just
thought I'd mention that in the contents of

http://www.csm.ornl.gov/srt/downloads/oscar/6.0/supported_distros.txt

(which is downloaded at step 5. in the RepoTesting instructions at
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/repoTesting - what
you point to below), the [unstable] block is an exact copy of the [6.0]
block; that is, nowhere in this whole file is an unstable repo actually
specified. Was this intended? Also, in the repo files linked-to at the
top of the page (note that "* On x86 systems:" should be corrected to "*
On x86_64 systems:", and vice versa), word "unstable" also doesn't occur.
SO perhaps Henrique's not using the unstable repo is not unexpected?

I'm assuming we are to make manual changes in these files while
experimenting with the trunk, to explicitly point to
the unstable repos in all instances.
Ie., for my OS (CentOS 5.2/x86_64), wherever it says

http://bear.csm.ornl.gov/repos/rhel-5-x86_64

it should say

http://bear.csm.ornl.gov/repos/unstable/rhel-5-x86_64

Correct? (Am I misunderstanding something?)
Thanks,
Chris

I released a new version of ODA and PackMan, it is supposed to fix the problem.
The packages are available via our "unstable" repositories (repositories used
for the preparation of oscar-6.0.1, which should be fairly stable today).

Henrique, i think your system configuration does not use the unstable
repositories: you are using http://bear.csm.ornl.gov/repos/rhel-5-i386,
instead of http://bear.csm.ornl.gov/repos/unstable/rhel-5-i386. If you
want to use the unstable repository, refer to
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/repoTesting.

Henrique,

I never saw that error, so could you, please, set PACKMAN_VERBOSE (e.g.,
"export PACKMAN_VERBOSE=1") and re-run "oscar-config --bootstrap"? With that i
hope having more information so i will be able to fix the problem.

Thanks,

Hi, Geoffroy,

I set the PACKMAN_VERBOSE=1, but did not hear significant output change. Even
so, I'm sending the output.
