Chris,

Can you try again? I do not understand the problem but i forced the
regeneration of the meta-files for the repository, i guess it will fix the
problem.

Thanks,

Objet: Re: [Oscar-users] Code freeze in preparation of oscar-6.0.1

Hi Geoffroy,

I was encouraged by this (and by reading in the yum manpage that, in fact,
"yum clean all" only cleans packages and headers), but

"yum clean metadata && yum update"

changes nothing (other than deleting 19 metadata files); a subsequent "yum
install oscar" still tries to fetch revision 7832 packages. Trying again
with an even more thorough

"yum clean metadata && yum clean dbcache && yum clean all && yum update"

additionally cleans 5 sqlite files... I also manually delete the ENTIRE
/var/cache/yum/oscar directory; still not fixed. After a "yum install
oscar" attempt (r7832 again) this directory is recreated (ostensibly from
downloaded repo info), and e.g., in the brand new
/var/cache/yum/oscar/primary.xml.gz.sqlite I can find the string
"6.0.1r7832" throughout:

(etc).

Possibly the ultimate test:

I just temporarily set up your CentOS-x86_64-OSCAR-unstable.repo in the
/etc/yum.repos.d of an entirely different machine (actually, a Fedora 9
x86_64 box) that has never heard the word "oscar" even whispered... and
"yum oscar install" has a look at this repo, and still downloads info for
6.0.1r7832-1

In fact, when I manually download repodata/primary.xml.gz from the
unstable repo URL and take a look, everything in it is revision 6.0.1r7832
- e.g., while this lists oscar-base-lib-6.0.1r7832-1, what's in the actual
repo dir above repodata at the unstable bear.csm.ornl.gov URL is
oscar-base-lib-6.0.1r7875M-1

> Hi Chris,

That one is very simple to fix: i updated the packages in between to
include the latest bug fixes, if you run "yum clean metadata && yum
update" that will fix the problem. Typical problem with yum
repositories...

Regards,

Testing, stopped at step 0.

Probably something tiny was missed, but after stripping-out every last
trace of previous OSCAR 6 testing (yum remove oscar* mysql* yume oda
systemimager, then prowling the disk with recursive finds to remove
residuals by hand, then removing whatever still comes up with "yum list
installed | grep oscar", then cleaning all yum caches and removing all
relevant log files in /var/log, things in /tmp, etc...), and then forging
ahead (with only a verified CentOS-x86_64-OSCAR-unstable.repo in
/etc/yum.repos.d (not /etc/yum.conf.f, BTW), when I try

        yum oscar install

it fails immediately with "404: Not Found"'s... probably because, manually
pasting the parent URL of the rpms listed, the rev. number is actually
6.0.1r7875M for most things, and not 6.0.1r7832...

I'm sure it's a tiny oversight. If it's something on my end I've missed,
please inform.
