This reminds me the day around 1999 when i was a speech writer for Senator Che Jam Harun, of Kepala Batas. She turned down the senatorship from Pak Lah (that time DPM) and i asked her why and she said, "Kak Jam mana tau dok parlimen la heh.. keje kampung leh lah. Jika redhuan bantu tulis ucapan koah ke nak tanya soalan kan Kak Jam nanti duk tang tu senyap je.. rugi la Pak La harap kat kita"
So i wrote her first maiden speech and was allowed into Parlimen gallery to observe. I notived all the nice answers from the gomen officials. "er.. kami memang prihatin dan sudah ambil kira pertanyaan dan pandangan dari Ahli Yang Berhormat dari Kepala Batas (fill in any other kawasan) dan sudah ada kajian sedang dijalankan bagi perkara mahkamah keluarga dan wanita (fill in any other topic).." During dinner with Pak Lah and the other Senators i asked them that i am impressed with the Senate. And they replied to me in some bemused look, "Why Redhuan, don't you know? Hehe.. you really don't know? Those are canned answers!" Eric Yeoh wrote: > Just another way of politicians' wordplay.
