Criteria depends on each of the mirror that you want to mirror.

For example from Ubuntu Mirror

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Mirrors

Internet Bandwidth around 100MBS or 1GBS.

and disk space

382GB of disk space for the Ubuntu package archive.

39GB for Ubuntu release CD images.

Last setup for OSCC MAMPU I had set it up using sedot for mirror management.

2) The Benefit

- We return back to OSS community by off load mirror servers around
the world. Malaysia mirrors will be used request from Malaysia.

- Faster request (suppose to) because the mirror should be in Malaysia
Internet network. Tak perlu lalu kabel dasar laut Jepun atau Hong Kong
yang selalu putus. :)

- For popularity. Name of the mirror will be place at Mirror website
of each of Distros that we mirror.

- Good for our telekom company. The traffic for mirror locally in
Malaysia, rather than across the ocean. Cheaper fee for the cabel.
Telekom should give discount to our mirror providers.

- Hasanuddin has a good point.
