The essence of a wiki is group editing. This implies both the ongoing creation and destruction of content. Effective refactoring is the key unmet need in many wikis, which also implies "removal" of existing over-verbose content.

That's why wikis can be particularly useful when the goal is group discovery of a knowledge area, but not as useful for evangelism of a particular position.
