I need to answer this way: Even if I put in danger to point out that I am a stupid guy ;) (which maybe is true)
Hi all,
i think donations encourage developers to continue their open source
projects. its not about the money but about that someone cares and
acknowledges the work.
i have an paypal account but nobody ever donated only a buck to me. i
never expected anybody to donate. but if one wanted to donate he already
could. the asdt project also has an paypal account...
Well you thought same like I did with the as2lib: Maybe there is someone out there
that cares what we do. I heard similar problems from Alex U. who also was not
getting much (if anything).
right now i have no time for asdt. not that i am a bummer as erixtekila
pointed out ... i lost my job and have to restructure my life.
university starts right now. and i have a lot of work to be done to
start my own company. i really want to spend time for asdt but a just
cant effort it. without some help of my parents i couldn't even effort
to buy food right now.
Same for me ... maybe we could point out that Open source development
ruins your life more than it helps ... Actually I know its my own fault (the as2lib is
not a good library, I misunderstood value of work, ...), but that does not mean that
its helpful that opensource in flash is not respected in most companies because it
looks like those projects do not achive business concerns (even if they do ...).
Maybe there needs to be some rethink.
the job i had before was a 2 days a week job and allowed me to learn a
lot for asdt. i took this job rather than a better paid full time job.
besides from that i bought some books about the topic and eclipse books
are not cheap at all.
Not same for me: I choosed to have a 80 hours week in the times of as2lib.
so why did i work for asdt and why would i continue working for asdt as
soon as i have some time? because i believe in open source.
I have asked my self same lines: But what do you believe is the archive of
open source for flash in this certain case? Some people are even against
massive development in a ActionScript environment (and they have a point).
but i would be really happy if someone expresses his acknowledgment with
a little donation.
Well: But _expression_ with real help would have helped a lot - at least im my case.
Things like: Immediate tests, Someone who CARES about the homepage or
someone who could deal with releases. I mean all those are jobs that don't require
lot to do, now my question: Did you expirience it the same way?
Martin.
