Well my tipping point came over a year and half ago - or thereabouts.
Since then I've done all my Flash agency work using Ubuntu, and it's
just plain delightful! Actually I lie, there have been bugs with the
Flash player on Linux, but it has reached a pretty decent point of
stability now.
The player doesn't perform *as* well (I even think performance degraded
with the last release) but that sort of makes me work harder to
optimise, so when I switch to mac / win for testing it's a delight ;-)
I've also pushed forward on switching family over to Ubuntu - people in
the 60-70 age bracket, and their collective verdict - simple, easy to
use, no nonsense, which really is true. Installing software on Ubuntu is
so much easier than on Windows, and also no worries with family calling
about slow computers / virus / spyware.
It's definitely ready for the desktop, and hasn't Windows market share
dropped 1-2 percent during the Vista release so far?

I think we are actually reaching a tipping point against Windows
dominance,
unless MS moves mountains very quickly, like this year (and they
could).
Vista has got a lot of bad press against it and little reason for it.
MS hasn't fixed its issues in a year or so (still waiting for SP1).
