Cross-posting is not SPAM. I just wanted to have more visibility for this post. Also, this is realted to Flex as Flex is directly related to Flash and I'm talking about Flash tools in general being transparently available to Linux (as well as other OSs).
I'm not telling anyone to "migrate" to Linux or any other OS. As I stated, I'm not against Windows, I still use it for many tasks and it has some great software. I'm a Linux user, I do sympathize with FOSS philosophies, but I live in a capitalist world and I also believe that people should earn money. I WILL PAY for quality software. The OS I'm using should not matter. I too don't like fanatic FOSS-proponents that say they will not pay for software - go live in a desert island then. This "rant" is just to point out to Adobe (and eventually other software companies), that being transparent in the OS they are supporting for their products are becoming immensely important nowadays - just take a look at the affairs of current available OSs (XP? outdated, Vista? You're joking, right? Mac OSX? Good, maybe the best alterantive). Windows is not (and shouldn't have been) being confused with "PC" anymore. Don't tell me that developing software for Linux is "harder" - Adobe has the resources. The Flash Player works great. Linux has a standard-base and follow open-standards. Shouldn't be so hard to decide on the right tools to make "commercial-quality" applications for Linux. I'm using Ubuntu for about a year and I'm very satisifed with the experience. I have learned a lot, it certainly gave me more power and I'm doing things faster and more efficiently than when I was on Windows. Having bash and not being afraid of scripts and other automation stuff can really change your TI life for good. You feel liberated. You feel like you can do anything, it just depends on your efforts and ideas, I think it is the main power behind open-source projects. Cheers, Marcelo.
