you should probably take a look at "screenweaver hx" to create the projector. Yes, local flash projector apps can read local files. Writing to files however is not natively supported by flash. The projector creators usually provide this as added functionality. Screenweaver is the only popular open source projector tool I know of, not sure if its available for Linux . Other members might be able to help u with more pointers.
