I certainly understand this.  If it were a lighter process to update and test 
thoroughly within our software, I'd have done this.  (This isn't your fault.)  
I was happy getting in the compilation testing, to make sure we weren't going 
to have problems in Solaris.

I'll be giving the 2.8 branch a try in the next week or so, with this fix.

In the run up to 2.8.0 I called, and called, and called for testing
with 3rd party applications.  But still not enough testing occurs.
I'm afraid there isn't much more I could have done, too many users
wait till after a stable release is tagged before they try out
testing.
