  I just embarked on implementing the Win32 side of the vsync support for 
traits, and it
looks like my code sort of overlaps Ulrich's unmerged vsync code.

  I can submit my code, but it might be best of Ulrich's code were submitted 
first, or if
i incorporated his code into mine. Ulrich or Robert -- would you like me to try 
to do
this? I don't compile on OSX or X11, so I can't code, compile or test any of 
the code on
that side. But I can submit the tested Win32-side if that's ok with everyone.
