as i wrote when I had this node to a Group whose stateset is
ss->setAttribute(0,_texture1D)
ss->setAttribute(1,_texture2D)

both GL_TEXTURE_BINDING_1D and GL_TEXTURE_BINDING_2D seams true
so my guess is that GL_TEXTURE_BINDING_1D don't deal whith current active but 
with the whole GL state...
