Hi Ben,

I have tested the changes on my main Kubuntu 16.04 dev system and
things worked fine with the ffmpeg 2.8.6 install, I also tried a
Kubuntu 14.04 install and this worked fine too.  I suspect if I go a
bit further back things will break, but at least as first pass these
changes work with relatively modern systems without the need for
needing a ffmpeg version that hasn't even rolled out to current linux
distributions yet.

I have checked the changes in assigning the as author Andreas
Cadhalpun, if this isn't appropriate, well you were a bit slow with
your reply.
