This is an old version and I do not think that the VRML plugin was included in the build. > I read from the wiki page (can't find the location now) that it requires a > specific version of OpenVRML for it to work which is not the same version > available from SourceForge. You must get an older version - it is on Sourceforge, just look for older releases. > Should the binary zip distribution be able to load VRML files out of the > box? Probably not (at least the Windows one). > I'd much prefer to be able to be able to load VRML files via osgViewer so > that I can showcase OSG as a better way to view VRML files because it uses > GL_BLEND to handle translucent geometry better and other VRML viewer > available. > Please, do not expect to use OSG as VRML viewer! It will NOT work. The current VRML support using OpenVRML is very limited - it will load only simple meshes, nothing else. There is NO support for primitives, no support for scripting and no support for many advanced nodes. The plugin is intended only as a simple way how to convert existing VRML models to something usable in OSG.
