Forgot to mention.  When doing whole earth database it's painful not
using geospecific imagery and DEMs as you have to specify the coords
when pass them to osgdem.  Its far easier to just use proper
geospecific data, then you just use -t and -d options for the source
files, and both can even handle whole directories trees.  This way its
easy to specify terrabyte databases with just a few command line
options.

I am actually kinda tempted to drop support for non geospecific
imagery in osgdem/VPB as its just hard work supporting users who
cobble together data in too a rough form for the task in hand.
