Hi all -- As I've mentioned before, the only way to ever become truly
proficient at 3D graphics programming in OSG is to first have a firm grasp
of OpenGL. Well, here's your opportunity to make this happen.

Bob Kuehne and I have teamed with 3D and multimedia expert Alan Millman to
form Tech Soup, and offer a new training course in OpenGL 3. The course
announcement is below; read on for more details.

We hope to see you in Washington DC this July!

OpenGL 3 Training Offered

Tech Soup announces its inaugural offering of its OpenGL 3 course, July
20-23, 2009, in Washington DC. Tech Soup is the leader in cross-platform 3D
graphics training for software developers. OpenGL 3 includes many new
features and changes that make it fundamentally different from OpenGL 1 and
2. This course covers everything developers need to know to take maximum
advantage of OpenGL 3 and ensure their applications are compatible with
future versions of the API.

Topics include:
 * OpenGL 3 and the OpenGL Shading Language
 * 3D graphics concepts and programming techniques
 * Maximizing performance for current graphics hardware
 * Strategies for porting from OpenGL 1 and 2 to OpenGL 3

This four-day course teaches the fundamentals of OpenGL 3. Developers
attending the course learn the mechanisms behind fast, efficient, modern 3D
graphics on current graphics hardware. Through instruction and labs,
students take a triangle from concept to screen, learn how to access
buffered data, move data to and from graphics hardware, add textures and
lights, and use the OpenGL Shading Language for additional rendering
effects. Students learn how to ensure backward and forward compatibility in
a cross-platform environment. Instruction is hands-on with numerous labs,
where students turn concepts into practical knowledge.

Students are required to bring their own computers. Supported platforms
include Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. All attendees receive electronic
copies of labs and example software.
