Yes, it is strange! Why couldn't they just read in four doubles like the spec says?!? Of course that is what I had to start but it didn't work. A coworker has warned me that the spec cannot be relied on to implement OpenFlight and this is showing me that he is right.
To make the test, I put different values in each box of the DOF dialog in Creator so I'd know where the bits from each field ended up in the file. The values were like 1.23456, 8.88888, and -10.9876544. Powers of two and of course zero were not good tests.
