Yes thats what I meant, and you are right I dont get that far because of the 
first error.

The demo applications all work, so when I write osgviewer cow.osg the viewer

Yes I did, the tutorial I followed said it was cleaner, so I added a folder 
called "build"

Where would that line go exactly? I am confused  :-* 

Do you think it would be easier to delete everything and try from scratch? I 
mean it is such a waste of time, as building OSG always takes an hour (and I 
have already done it a few times) but I really need to get this working soon.
