Was there are resolution to the build issue under VS?
There was no resolution needed, it seems that Paul had an incomplete update or had updated before you merged in Cedric's changes to the osgAnimation examples yesterday.
No error remains, all builds fine, only the bucketload of warnings remain and I'll try Thomas's suggestion, though I don't understand the implications (having not used virtual inheritance myself as I stated before).
I'll let you know.
