Have a look at the build_master.source that it's generated. Last week I updated VPB to use the new osgDB serializers as well as support for setting the image pixel formats per layer, with these changes the .source format has changed a little, in my testing it all worked, but perhaps there is something amiss. You'll need svn/trunk and both OSG and VPB, as I had to make some bug fixes to the OSG serializers to get things working in VPB.
