Hi Igor,
Still hope there is someone, who familliar with LWO+OSG, to answer.(It's most
important question for me, because i'm thinking about OSG generally because i
found a bug in Assert Importer, so it can't load lwo bones now. I've reported
it, but i don't think, that is will be fixed soon).
And originally, i planned to use assimp for models\animation loader and some
osg components for some essential functions. But now i'm screwed. Kinda don't
now what to do with my LWO's(thinking about exporters, but they're associated
only with loss of data and time for me).
As I see it you have a few options:
You could try to find a good converter to convert your LWO data into
another format that OSG can load (as I said Collada is a good choice). I
don't know what your budget is, but if you have some money, Deep
Exploration is an excellent file conversion tool that can load pretty
much any 3D format and save it to pretty much any other format,
including Collada.
(as an aside, I wouldn't be surprised if LightWave can save to Collada
format natively... Most 3D programs can nowadays)
Also you could always use OSG and implement what's missing in the LWO
loader plugin, and submit your changes to osg-submissions... That way
you wouldn't have to pay any money, and others in your situation would
benefit too.
